Meet Karen McCullough, CSP®

ALWAYS CURIOUS.
Still Learning.

I’ve always been fascinated by what makes people tick—and what we can learn from one another.

A LITTLE HISTORY.
Lots Of Curiosity.

From Cleveland’s Little Italy to clothing stores and keynote stages,
my path hasn’t been a straight line. But people, and what I can learn from them, have always been at the heart of it.

My first birthday (yes, that’s me!)

My First Lessons Were in Listening.

I grew up in Cleveland’s Little Italy, surrounded by older sisters and cousins. I was the baby of a big Italian family, so there was always something to watch, someone to listen to, and a different perspective to consider.

Long before I spoke about generations, I was noticing how people experienced the world differently—even within the same family.

The Store Was My Classroom.

My clothing stores brought together nieces, friends, college students, and customers of all ages.

Every season brought new trends, new expectations, and something else to learn. Staying relevant meant paying attention and recognizing that the people working beside me had as much to teach me as I had to teach them.

New career. Same me.

A New Career. The Same Curiosity.

When I moved into professional speaking, I brought those lessons with me.

What began with fashion evolved into conversations about change, generations, and how we work together.

The setting was different, but my curiosity hadn’t changed: What matters to people, and how can we connect across our differences?

Bigger Stages. Still Learning.

Speaking has taken me to remarkable organizations and put me on event stages alongside people like Magic Johnson, Mel Robbins, and Lisa Ling.

Along the way, I’ve earned my Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) designation and been recognized by Global Gurus six times as a World’s Top Brand Professional.

What keeps me interested is still the people—their questions, their experiences, and what we can learn together.

Me and my Killer Keynoters

Helping Other Voices Find Their Way.

In 2022, I started the Killer Keynote Academy to help other speakers develop their message and bring it to the stage with confidence.

It’s become a community where we challenge ideas, share what we’re learning, and support one another. I bring my experience, but I’m a student in that room, too.

There’s Always Another Hand to Play.

Away from the stage, you might find me at a poker table. I love the mix of people, strategy, and never quite knowing what comes next.

Apparently, my curiosity doesn’t take much time off.

Still curious. Occasionally bluffing.

What I Bring To the Room

Everything in my story comes with me when I step onstage: a business owner’s perspective, a lifelong curiosity about people, and a sense of humor about being human.

— Real Talk. Room for Laughter.

I use humor to help people lower their defenses and look honestly at the assumptions they bring to work. We can tackle uncomfortable truths without making anyone the punchline.

— Generational Insight. Without the Labels.

I connect research with real-world experience to help audiences understand what shaped their colleagues—not put them in boxes. Understanding generations is a starting point for seeing the person.

— More Than an “Aha” Moment.

Awareness matters. What we do next matters more. I give audiences practical language and tools to respond differently, have better conversations, and build trust back at work.
